WJN Consulting, LLC is primarily the work of Wes Noonan. Wes Noonan started in the computing business while stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA in the service of the United States Marine Corps. After starting off as a desktop support technician, he began working on and managing the Banyan Vines LAN/WAN at Headquarters, 1st Marine Division.

Upon discharge from the Marines, Wes returned to his home of San Antonio, TX where he worked as a cabling technician responsible for Category 5 and Fiber Option cable plant design and installation. He then proceeded to work for the Edgewood ISD as a LAN admin before moving to Houston, TX to return to Banyan Vines administration.

In 1997 Wes began studying for and attaining his Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification on both Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0, eventually obtaining his Microsoft Certified Trainer certification. He spent the next several years specializing on Windows deployment operations including a 25,000 desktop rollout in the Houston area. He also began teaching Microsoft Official Curriculum at Southern Methodist University and continued doing so until 2000.

In 1999 Wes began working primarily on network design and configuration obtaining his Cisco Certified Network Associate certification and shortly there after his Cisco Certified Design Associate and Nortel Networks Certified Support Specialist certifications. It is during this time that Wes stopped teaching MOC and wrote and developed his own custom curriculum for teaching an introductory routing and switching course at SMU. He taught this course almost exclusively until late in 2002. He also spent this time working on managing and maintaining mostly Cisco Powered Networks for a number of companies in Houston.

In 1999 Wes also joined BMC Software, Inc. as his primary employer as a Senior Quality Assurance Representative. Originally working on the PATROL for Microsoft Windows solutions, Wes specialized on Microsoft Cluster Server and Microsoft Datacenter systems and software. With his focus shifting to network infrastructure however, in early 2001 he moved to the Application-Centric Network Management initiative at BMC Software, Inc. primarily with the PATROL DashBoard solution. Wes worked at BMC Software, Inc. in this capacity until August 7, 2003.

Wes has also spent this time working side engagements working on network design and implementation for a number of business in Houston. During this time he has designed, built, managed and maintained an Internet Service Provider network providing Internet access to small offices at 4 different buildings in Houston as well as co-location facilities for Teir 2 Internet access. He has also specialized in firewall implementations, primarily using Cisco PIX, Netscreen and Sonicwall firewalls for facilities ranging in size from 5 to 50 users including VPN access. He also volunteers his time in the design and maintenance of the Junior Achievement network locations in Houston.

Most recently Wes was honored as a Subject Matter Expert by CompTIA for his work on the Security+ exam (for which he is certified) as well as being recently published as a contributing author for the CISSP Training Guide by QUE Publishing. Wes wrote chapter two of the training guide (thank you Roberta for the opportunity). He also presented at MCTCON 2002 giving presentations on diversifying training by offering independent Cisco curriculum as well as Building Secure and Manageable Networks.
